Stories from the National Folklore Collection – The Schools’ Collection

Kiltullagh Killimordaly Heritage Society is hosting an evening of local stories on Wednesday, 4 November at 7.30pm in Kiltullagh Community Hub. The stories were collected by schoolchildren in our parish in 1937 and 1938 as part of the Schools’ Collection.

Heritage Society Chairperson Kieran Jordan will introduce the National Folklore Collection, a UNESCO-recognised folklore archive, with a particular focus on the Schools’ Collection.

Members of the Heritage Society will then read stories collected in Attymon, Brackloon, Esker and Kiltullagh schools. We’d love to hear from any members who’d like to read a story on the night. If you’re interested, please get in touch at kkheritage@outlook.ie or WhatsApp Paschal on 086 164 5573.
