Pastimes from the Past: Keeping Our Heritage Alive
Kiltullagh Killimordaly Heritage Society held its Heritage Week event, “Pastimes from the Past: Keeping Our Heritage Alive”, on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 August. The weekend included a series of talks on Saturday, the launch of the society’s new book, “Remembering the Clubs, Pastimes and Community Events of Kiltullagh-Killimordaly”, and an exhibition which continued on Sunday.
Galway County Heritage Officer Marie Mannion launched the new book, which brings together memories and information about the clubs, pastimes and community events that were part of local life over the years. Saturday’s programme featured talks by Majella O’Dea, Steve Dolan, Martin Curley and Kieran Jordan.
The event, which was made possible through the Galway County Council Community Support Scheme 2026 and supported by Kiltullagh Killimordaly Community Care, provided a chance to look back at some of the clubs, pastimes and events that were once a familiar part of life in Kiltullagh and Killimordaly.
