Galway’s original Olympian…from Attymon

Message from Niall Duddy: This article [by Tom Hunt] appeared in last week’s Tribune about one Michael Kelly from Attymon, who emigrated to New York in 1888.

He won two Olympic gold medals in shooting 100 years ago, at the 1920 Games in Antwerp, where he represented the USA. He died in Koblenz, Germany in 1923. He is one of the very few Irish people with 2 Olympic gold medals. I am working with Tom to try and find out more about him.
